Information

Clematis Broughton Bride has both single and double nodding bell-shaped flowers which are creamy white, speckled with lilac on the outsides of the tepals. A longer flowering form for this atragene group because not only does it give the usual profusion of flowering spring, it will also sporadically bloom through the summer months as well.

Cultivation Advice.

This includes the alpina, chisanensis, koreana, macropetala and their hybrids, i.e. spring flowering cultivars with nodding bell-like flowers and are all very hardy.
They do not need the 'rich' growing conditions or deep planting that the large flowered cultivars prefer. Because they have very fine root systems they will not thrive in soil which is prone to water-logging and they will actually be happier in poorer soils with very free draining conditions. If required, prune immediately after main flowering. Avoid them becoming too excessively wet during their first autumn and winter in the ground or perhaps plant in the spring.

Such a hard-working beautiful Clematis.

I already have two ‘Broughton Bride’ and they are just beautiful. White flowers in spring and now, towards the end of August, I have yet more flowers and silky seed heads. I am mystified as to why no-one has reviewed it before me.

I’m just about to place another order ........ it will be Broughton Bride again, this time for an arched walkway.

This one is always the bride and never a bridesmaid in my opinion.
