Information

The mid blue hyacinth shaped flowers are borne in clusters and have a gorgeous perfume. This clump-forming clematis has erect woody stems and requires free draining soil.

Cultivation Advice
These fabulous, yet unusual clematis are classed as herbaceous sub-shrubs as their growth is so very different from the rest of the genus Clematis'Cassandra', 'Wyevale' and stans, have erect woody stems and produce clusters of hyacinth shaped flowers. 'Praecox' produces star-like flowers with recurved tips and woody scrambling stems. These make excellent plants for the border, they are easy to grow and bloom over a long period.  This group of plants flower and perform better in sunny free draining conditions.

Leave pruning until mid-spring(April) when the weather has improved. Do NOT prune these hard in autumn or winter when tidying other herbaceous plants as the Heracleifolia Group over-winter better with the old growth left intact. Avoid them becoming too excessively wet during their first autumn and winter in the ground or perhaps plant in the spring.

The best scented clematis

A lot of the other parsley=leaved clematis look as good, though there is a special quality, somehow, to the recurved, slightly mauve flowers of Wyevale. But none of them smell anything like as good: the scent of Wyevale is exquisite. All these heracleifolias make lovely cut flowers: they last and the huge leaves are exciting in their way.

Super scent.

Well grown and superbly well packaged, with timely delivery.

Lucky last clematis

This is good scent in the garden but it makes too much growth if you have a small space.

I like mine in a container and in the sun it gives a strong perfume for you walking by.
