Clematis 'Viola'. The sumptuous velvety violet-purple blooms have the merest hint of pinky-red along the bar when first open. The contrasting golden-yellow stamens make a glorious contrast to their richly coloured background.

Flowers of deep burgundy red are gently rounded and have a satin sheen and a crown of golden anthers in the centre. A popular cultivar bred by A Girault of Orleans, France around the 1970s.

The delightful lilac coloured blooms have bright carmine-red bars and butter yellow stamens. Launched by Raymond Evison at the 2016 RHS Chelsea

The blooms of Clematis 'Vyvyan Pennell' are gorgeous rosette-like double blooms with deep rosy-lavender when first open, maturing to deep lilac-mauve. The later single blooms are deep lilac-mauve. A family favourite & one of our first clematis.

The semi-nodding deep purply-red flowers have a creamy-white centre and contrasting purply-red anthers. When I first saw this in full bloom it was in a garden in Sweden and when in full flower it makes a breathtaking sight.

Clematis 'Warszawska Nike' (syn. Warsaw Nike) has wonderful rich reddy-purple blooms that mature to bluey-purple and have beautifully contrasting yellow stamens. Pronounced Var-sharv-ska Nee-ka.

The pretty deep rose-pink star-like flowers have paler bars, undulating margins and recurved tips. Its gorgeous reddy-bronze foliage matures to purply-bronze, altogether a wonderful sight.

clematis Wesselton has light to mid blue, semi-double, nodding, bell-shaped flowers which are larger than those of C. macropetala species. Named after a village in Suffolk.

The vibrant pinkish-red semi-nodding flowers have a dark centre, are very pretty and produced in huge abundance from mid to late summer. A striking climber for any arch or arbor and a great companion plant too.
