Semi-Evergreen Honeysuckle. Glossy slender green foliage is a wonderful background to the clusters of red & yellow tubular scented flowers in summer. For best results choose a good sunny position against a wall, fence or archway. Black fruits are often produced in late summer/autumn.

This semi-evergreen climber gets its name from the dark copper coloured young leaves that it produces in abundance. The plant produces a mass of scented yellow flowers through the summer months and benefits from a free draining soil condition. Superbe to grow in combination with any variety of clematis montana which has a white flower.

Variegated Japanese Honeysuckle. This semi-evergreen honeysuckle has very striking green foliage with a yellow vein running through, which in mid summer provides the backdrop to plentiful white fragrant flowers. When these have been pollinated the white flowers turn yellow.

Lonicera japonica Dart's World is a form of the Japanese honeysuckle which produces an abundance of highly scented flowers from spring to early autumn. They start from rich pink buds which open blush-pink and have a cream throat. Semi-evergreen foliage of dark green often turns reddy-bronze in autumn and winter.

A fast growing, evergreen climbing honeysuckle, Lonicera japonica Halliana produces highly fragrant white flowers that mature to a creamy-yellow as they are pollinated. Like many honeysuckle it benefits from a free draining soil condition and is very much at home scrambling through other climbers or even a hedge.

Another fast growing and evergreen honeysuckle, Lonicera japonica Halls Prolific produces a plentiful number of scented white flowers that mature to a lovely lemon yellow once pollinated.

With interestingly mottled, variegated foliage and large, scented, yellow and white flowers, Lonicera japonica Horwood Gem is an attractive evergreen climber. The large flowered form of common honeysuckle has eye-catching variegated leaves which complement the yellow and white flowers nicely.

This striking variety of honeysuckle has a very pretty white and pale gold flower that is highly fragrant, set against a semi-evergreen foliage, marked with pale green and darker green markings that become tinted with pink towards the autumn.

Lonicera japonica Princess Kate is popular for her variegated foliage on new growth, which will revert to green once it is mature. Lonicera Princess Kate also has beautifully slender, creamy white scented flowers, making it a wonderful addition to your garden particularly somewhere you can enjoy that fragrance.

A classic cottage garden plant, Lonicera purpurea is a beautiful honeysuckle. This popular evergreen, climber produces a stunning display of scented, creamy-yellow flowers which open to reveal yellow throats.

Lonicera japonica Red World is a very vigorous form of the japanese honeysuckle which has an abundance of scented flowers starting from bright red buds which open rich pink and have a cream throat. Evergreen foliage of dark green often turns reddy-bronze in autumn and winter.

With a purple-red flush on creamy yellow, highly scented flowers, Lonicera japonica Repens is a vigorous, evergreen climber. The trumpet-like flowers fade to pale pink as they mature.

Often known as the Early Dutch Honeysuckle, Lonicera periclymenum Belgica has purply-red buds which open to reveal a creamy-yellow throat and are highly fragrant. A classic cottage garden plant that benefits from a free draining soil condition to do best.

Lonicera periclymenum florida is a vigorous deciduous honeysuckle producing masses of strongly scented, deep red-purple flowers that have a yellow inside. The blooms are followed by red berries that are popular with birds into the autumn.

Lonicera periclymenum Graham Thomas has sweetly scented creamy-white flowers which mature to a pale yellow as they are pollinated. It is a classic cottage garden honeysuckle that will be as happy growing on your garden arch or pergola as it will growing into a small tree or large shrub.

The scented creamy-yellow flowers of Lonicera periclymenum Heaven Scent will mature to white as they age. The blooms come in abundance from early to mid summer and truly fill a garden with fragrance.

Lonicera periclymenum Serotina produces masses of richly fragrant tubular flowers that are creamy-white inside, with a purple-red outer. A popular honeysuckle blooming in summer through to autumn, it prefers a part shade to sunny location and a reasonably free draining soil.

A lovely, vigorous, climbing honeysuckle, Lonicera Sweet Sue produces large, highly fragrant, trumpet-shaped pale yellow flowers with white throats which will last from mid summer to late autumn.

One of my all time favourite honeysuckle, Lonicera purpusii fragrantisima has dainty white flowers with a strong scent through the winter months and is loved by solitary bees especially on a mild winters day. It's winter flowering nature makes it a very attractive plant to provide year round interest and it is worth noting that it requires free draining soil to do its best for you.

Lonicera sempervirens is often known as the 'Trumpet honeysuckle'.  This vigorous evergreen climber displays its scarlet red to orange blooms that have a yellow inside all through the summer and autumn. The blooms are followed by bright red berries popular with the birds.

Lonicera similis var. delavyii produces a huge abundance of white tubular flowers which turn yellow once pollinated and are sweetly scented. The flowers are followed by black berries that are very popular with birds and it is also semi-evergreen in a sheltered location.
